Chick-fil-A award

Chick-fil-A has announced that Summerville resident Samantha Unterbrink has been awarded the $1,000 Leadership Scholarship.

Unterbrink was nominated by Chad Burn, operator of Chick-fil-A of Northwoods Mall.

The program provides assistance to restaurant employees who want to further their education.

In addition, Unterbrink will be eligible for the company's S. Truett Cathy Scholar Award, which provides additional $1,000 scholarships to the top 25 Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship recipients.

Springfield honors

Springfield College named the following local residents to the dean's list.

Awendaw: John Warren.

Charleston: April Baxter, Anita DeVeaux, Jeanette Drayton, Larcie Hunter, Shekinah Mazyck, Trina Pearson, Mariquetta Quick, Dominique Richard and Brittany Simmons.

Hanahan: Pandie Nelson.

Johns Island: Jessica Sanchez.

Ladson: Tracy Washington.

Moncks Corner: Sarah Baker.

North Charleston: Tiffany Glover, Yolanda Griffin, Tamisha Hill, Carole Huell, Shanerron Knox, Lorene Marshall, Brandie Morton, Marsha Spencer, Joni Wiggins and Michelle Williams.

Ravenel: April Burbage.

Summerville: Priscilla Felder.

Wando: Sandra Wigfall.

Clark grads

Liza E. Scardato of Charleston and Tatiana M. Davidson of Summerville recently graduated from Clark University in Massachusetts.

Washington and Lee

Area students recently made the dean's list at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Dean's list status represents a GPA of at least 3.4.

Charleston: Heyward Brockinton, Catharine Gregorie, Bess Hundley and Louisa Phillips.

Mount Pleasant: Collins Rice and Julie Slonecki.

Summerville: Brielle Weinstein.

Oglethorpe honors

Several area students were named to the dean's list at Oglethorpe University.

They include Anna Ethridge, Sullivan's Island; Kyana Jenkins, Charleston; and Christopher Richardson, North Charleston.

Westminster honors

Heather Corson of Mount Pleasant recently was named to the dean's list at Westminster Choir College at Rider University in Princeton, N.J.
