COLUMBIA — South Carolina baseball fans now have a good reason to visit the state museum.

Chief Curator of History Fritz Hamer said the South Carolina State Museum has updated its display of Gamecock baseball memorabilia after the team’s second consecutive College World Series victory. The exhibit will be in the museum lobby through Sept. 5.

Hamer said the museum brought out items it showed off last year after South Carolina’s first national baseball championship. He said museum officials have updated the display with newspaper front pages of the Gamecocks’ 2011 championship.

South Carolina set records for most consecutive games won in the NCAA tournament and the College World Series. The Gamecocks clinched the title last month with a 5-2 victory over Florida.
