North Charleston police have identified a suspect in one of two shootings Monday and released more information about both of them, but no arrests were made in either case.

In the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Maurice Youngblood of Adams Run that took place about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 26 near Ashley Phosphate Road, police on Tuesday released an incident report and a copy of the 911 call.

According to the report and the recording, the woman who reported the shooting was driving behind him in her own car when she heard several loud bangs and his vehicle started to swerve.

"A man has been shot," the woman yelled into the phone when she called 911. "He got shot on I-26 in his car. We were on our way home and somebody shot him. He's dead."

According to the incident report, police thought the woman who made the call appeared to be very intoxicated when officers arrived.

She told police she met Youngblood on Saturday night and they had met again Sunday night at an Ashley Phosphate Road nightclub. She said they left the nightclub, went to a gas station and filled up, then went to Waffle House. From the Waffle House, they got onto the interstate and she heard the shots just after they got off the Ashley Phosphate Road on-ramp.

According to the report, she "did not notice any other vehicles on the roadway at the time and could not provide a description."

Youngblood was driving a Cadillac, which he crashed into the concrete barrier in the median. Authorities said he died from the gunshot wounds rather than the crash.

Police closed down the interstate for several hours after the shooting.

They found shell casings in the area, as well as a piece from a mirror on the car Youngblood was driving.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor on Tuesday said no suspects have been arrested in Youngblood's slaying.

But investigators have identified a suspect in an apparently unrelated shooting that took place several hours later, Pryor said.

Just before 10 a.m., police were called to Comfort Suites at 2540 North Forest Drive, where Mikel Devone Fitts-Polite, 22, of North Charleston had walked into the lobby with several gunshot wounds. Fitts-Polite was taken by Charleston County EMS to Medical University Hospital with serious injuries.

Pryor said he would release the name of the suspect once arrest warrants had been obtained.
