Butter-poached lobster a savory treat at McCrady's
It is extremely difficult to have dinner at McCrady's and pick just one dish to write about.
I vacillated between the chosen dish and the Charred Octopus for days, but ultimately decided on the Butter Poached Lobster & Scallop. Both dishes are scrumptious and special, but the lobster was in my dreams, so that made the decision for me.
This dish should be in the dictionary under the phrase "sweet, buttery goodness."
The Butter Poached Lobster & Scallop is an appetizer, which is perfect as a larger portion would probably be too rich. Smaller than a large plate, there is still plenty for two people to share.
A hearty amount of perfectly cooked seafood is the star in this dish, but the accompaniments also shine.
The sorrel is citrusy and bright, and is a perfect addition to this plate. It cuts the richness of the amazing popcorn puree without diluting any of the flavors.
I loved the popcorn puree, but the additional pieces of whole popcorn on the plate were like a little party in my mouth. Like all of chef Sean Brock's food, each bite of this dish is a separate adventure and they all come together in a way that is pure genius.
His food is meant to be savored. When you go to McCrady's, you should linger over each dish and trust Clint Sloan, the sommelier, to pair it with just the right glass of wine. You really can't go wrong.
