CLEMSON -- Clemson football player and track athlete Joe Craig and female track athlete Marlena Wesh were involved in an altercation last month that left both students injured, according to a Clemson University police report.

Craig and Wesh were suspended from the track team for a violation of team rules after the incident. Both Craig and Wesh have declined to press charges and an assault and battery complaint has been withdrawn.

No disciplinary action against Craig, a redshirt freshman receiver, has been taken by the football program, according to the university.

Clemson University police responded to a campus area apartment May 22 to find Wesh bleeding from the forehead. Craig was located in a car near the apartment with a deep laceration to his arm, requiring an officer to tie a shirt around his arm to slow the bleeding until emergency medical personnel arrived, the report said.

Wesh told officers that she and Craig had argued at a party earlier that night. She said Craig later showed up at her apartment and that she "feared for her safety."

The police report says Wesh struck Craig with an eyebrow razor and Craig then struck her with a towel rod.
