Naval seminar
Addison King of Wando High School was chosen to participate in the 2011 Naval Academy Summer Seminar program. She will be one of about 2,250 students from around the world invited to attend this year.
The seminar is a fast-paced experience for high achievers who have completed their junior year in high school and are considering applying for admission to the academy.
It teaches prospective applicants about life at the Naval Academy. Each student will attend a six-day session.
Azusa Pacific honors
Mount Pleasant resident and Azusa Pacific University student Lauren A. Guerard made the academic dean's list for fall. Students on the dean's list earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Props crew
Kurt Polley, a Connecticut College junior, was props crew for the theater and music departments' production of "The Threepenny Opera." He is a son of Vance and Deborah Polley of Sullivan's Island.
