Charleston City Councilman Tim Mallard announced late Thursday that he will seek re-election this year to a second four-year term.

Mallard, of West Ashley, represents the city's District 11, which covers all of the city's portion of Johns Island, the western side of James Island, and part of West Ashley, south of Savannah Highway.

"If you like what I have been doing and want a more conservative Charleston, please join us," Mallard told supporters in an e-mail that annouced his re-election bid and solicited campaign donations.

All six odd-numbered council seats are up for election this year.
