A man driving away from a gas station on U.S. Highway 17 near Ravenel on Friday evening died early Saturday morning from injuries he received when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was leaving the Fuel Zone about 7 p.m. in a 1992 Cadillac when a pickup truck struck his vehicle, Maj. John Clark of the sheriff's office said. The Cadillac then sideswiped a Honda traveling south on U.S. 17.

The driver and two passengers in the Cadillac were transported toMedical University Hospital. The two passengers had non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger in the pickup were not injured, but the driver of the Honda was taken to Roper St. Francis Hospital for a possible broken left arm and back pain. A child in a car seat in the Honda was not injured.

Charleston County Deputy Coroner Brittney Martin said the victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members. He lived in the Charleston area.

No charges are pending, Clark said.
