Harris Teeter essentially is offering free flu shots.
On Friday, it announced a deal in which customers can get flu shots at store pharmacies for $12.95, and then receive a coupon for $12.95 off their next grocery purchase.
The deal will be offered through the end of May to customers who participate in the store's VIC card program.
There's no cost to participate in the store's VIC card program, which also gives cardholders access to discounts on groceries. New customers can sign up for a card at the store's customer service desk.
In South Carolina, February is the peak of flu season, and coastal areas reported the highest incidences in the state last month.
In the Charleston area, some hospitals have reported a sharp increase in flu-related emergency room cases in the past several weeks.
State officials said it's not too late to get vaccinated.
