If you're looking for a job, there's a free program, New Year, New Job, on Jan. 8 at the John L. Dart Library, 1067 King St. Jason Broughton, work force specialist from S.C. By taking part in the 2011 Resolution Run and Walk for Rides, you can help give adults rides, both the visually impaired and seniors who can no longer provide their own transportation. The event starts at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at Joe Riley Stadium. Entertainment provided by the Folly Dogs. Cost for those 13 and older is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the race, and for those 12 and under, it's $15 in advance or $20 the day of. Proceeds benefit ITNCharlestonTrident. Take a relaxing stroll through the Gallery Row art galleries during Wine Down After The Holidays, a First Fridays on Broad event. 5-8 p.m. Jan. 7. Fine art, jewelry, sculpture, pottery and gifts will be on display along with wine-tastings at participating galleries on Broad Street between East Bay and Meeting. If you're looking for a family-friendly celebration Jan. 1, head to Happy New Year, Charleston! presented by the Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs. Events run 4-10:30 p.m. and include children's activities, African drumming and dancing, organ and brass, chamber music, gospel music and jazz, with fireworks at 10:15 p.m. All are at Marion Square except the Classical Concerts, which will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King St. The party is nonalcoholic and free. If you'd prefer an adults-only New Year's Eve event, check out the 10th annual Snyder Grand Ball at the S.C. Aquarium. It runs 8 p.m.-1 a.m. and includes music from Quiana Parler and Friends and DJ Natty Heavy. The Chick-fil-A Bowl Football Game featuring the Gamecocks and the Seminoles will be broadcast.
