Fire destroys vacant rental home in Mount Pleasant
MOUNT PLEASANT — Firefighters extinguished a blaze on Rifle Range Tuesday night and then returned to the house 12 hours later after the fire rekindled.
Mount Pleasant firefighters first responded to the house at 1767 Rifle Range Road at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and found the back, left corner of the vacant rental house engulfed, according to Battalion Chief Steve Drozd.
Firefighters extinguished the fire after it damaged the majority of the house. They were called back out at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after embers rolled into the paneling and rekindled, he said. The house is a total loss, Drozd said.
He said it's not considered suspicious in nature.
