Firefighters responded to 6 Berwick Circle in West Ashley Wednesday morning for a fire in the third floor and attic.

No one was hurt Wednesday in a house fire at 6 Berwick Circle in West Ashley.

A 15-year-old boy was home at the time of the fire, said Mark Ruppel, public information officer for the Charleston Fire Department.

According to homeowner Mark Seifstein, his son was watching TV downstairs and saw smoke coming from the vents. He ran upstairs to check it out but couldn't make it to the third floor because of the amount of smoke, so he ran outside and called 911 on his cell phone.

The Charleston Fire Department got the call at 11:08 a.m.

Eight firefighters entered the house as part of their preliminary search, Ruppel said. The evacuation alarm was sounded at 11:22 a.m. telling them to get out of the house because they feared part of the ceiling would collapse.

The blaze was on the third floor and in the attic.

Two dogs were rescued from the home, a third was missing.

The family has lived there since 1997.
