SUMMERVILLE -- Dorchester County will open an office in October for people who want to vote absentee in the Nov. 2 election.
Starting Oct. 22, registered voters can cast ballots on voting machines at the Dorchester County Council Chambers, 500 N. Main St. Prospective voters must meet one of 15 qualifications to vote early; otherwise there is no early voting in the state, said Joseph Debney, executive director of the Dorchester County Board of Elections.
The machines will be open through Nov. 1. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, through Nov. 1. An upper county office opens the same dates and times at the county offices, 201 Johnston St., St. George.
