Footlight plans celebrity art auction

The Footlight Players will mark the beginning of its 79th season Saturday with a local celebrity art auction fundraiser featuring original paintings created by 11 members of the Charleston business community.

Doors open at 7 p.m. at the Players' downtown theater, with the auction beginning at 8.

Featured artists are Archie Burkel, Robert Dickson, R. Wayne Hall, Richard Heffner, Robert Ivey, Henry Lowndes, Shawn Jenkins, Linda Ketner, Tom O'Rourke, Emily Remington and James Wadsworth.

ABC News 4 meteorologist Tom Crawford will emcee the event and serve as auctioneer.

Tickets are $25 and are available by phone at 722-4487.
