GOOSE CREEK -- An 18-year-old took off running early Tuesday in a bowling alley after police suspected him of underage drinking, and he ended up getting an unlawful firearm possession charge and three shocks from a Taser.

At lane 28 of Royal Bowling Alley on Central Avenue, Tyrone Marquis Butler was seen pouring himself a beer from a pitcher that 23-year-old Antwun Sidney Whitney had brought him around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Goose Creek Police Department incident report.

Two off-duty officers who were working security at the alley asked to see Butler's ID, and he made a run for the exit.

The officers cornered him near the door, where one officer pushed over a locker to block an escape route and the other fired a Taser into Butler's back, the report said. Ignoring commands to put his hands behind his back, Butler got up, moved toward the exit again and received another electric shock from the Taser, the report said. He reached toward his waist and tried to stand again.

After the same officer used the Taser a third time, in Butler's abdomen, Butler finally let the officers handcuff him and take him to the parking lot, away from the gathering crowd.

In the parking lot, officers found a loaded .32-caliber revolver in Butler's front pocket, according to the report. They then checked his criminal history and saw that he was a convicted felon and not allowed to own a firearm.

They also found out he was 18, according to the report.

Officers arrested Butler, then went back into the bowling alley and arrested Whitney on a charge of transferring alcohol to a minor.
