A second man has been arrested in connection with a 17-year-old slaying of a U.S. Navy sailor in Berkeley County.
Thomas Solheim, 53, of Montauk, N.Y. was arrested by local police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Services at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement released by Suffolk County Police.
Solheim was arrested in connection with the 1992 death of James Alan Horton, a 22-year-old sailor who was shot in the chest and left in a ditch.
Authorities first arrested Charles Andrew Welty of Missoula, Mont. last weekend. An affidavit charging Welty with murder says he admitted to beating, sexually assaulting and killing Horton. Welty told police he had co-defendants.
