Registration for the first Charleston Marathon is now open. This new event, which will be part of the 2nd Annual RiverFront Festival, joins the already existing half-marathon, 10K, 5K and bicycle rides.

Sure, it's a long way away, but go ahead and mark your calendar for the Jan. 15, 2011, event that will start downtown near the S.C. Aquarium. For those fortunate enough to complete the 26.2-mile course, they will rewarded with shrimp and grits at the finish line (understandably they might wait a few minutes before they partake, though).
