To register for programs at the Lowcountry Senior Center, 865 Riverland Drive next to James Island County Park, call 762-9555. Hours 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Center managed by Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
Educational Programs
Medieval Europe: Explore topics surrounding Medieval European History and Europe in the High Middle Ages with Dr. Michelle Garceau. April 7, 2:30-3:30 p.m., discussion on "Church Bells," and April 28, 2:30-3:30 p.m., discussion on "Women and Miracle Stories." Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Art History: Explore ancient world of art history with Dr. Michael Haga. April 29, 2-3 p.m., discussion on "Mycenaean Art: Homer, Heroes, and Schliemann." Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Tolle's "A New Earth": Watch webcast videos and engage in group discussion. Tuesdays, April 20- June 22, 10 a.m.-noon. $2 for members/ $5 for nonmembers. "A New Earth" can be purchased locally or online for approximately $12.
Lowcountry Scholars: Intellectual topics and engaging speakers. April 21, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Dr. Frank Hefner, College of Charleston, Department of Economics & Finance, presents on "An Economic Update." Also, Dr. Roger Hawkins, The Citadel, psychology, presents on "Dr. Likert's Psychological Organizational Stages Bankers and Carmakers ignored 2005-2008." Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Great Decisions: Discuss the state of foreign policy today with Dr. Jack Porter, The Citadel Political Science Department. April 27, 2-3:30 p.m., "Global Financial Crisis." Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Men's Breakfast Club:Speakers on current events and breakfast. Free for members, $7 nonmembers. April 8, 8:30-9:30 a.m., John Girault, executive director of Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy, discusses protecting land, natural resources and open civic spaces.
Know Your Community, Trident Area Agency on Aging: Find out more about the agency and what services and information they offer older adults. April 15, 10-11 a.m. Free for members and nonmembers.
Home & Garden in the Lowcountry: Arborist Bob Longe, Bartlett Tree Experts, leads hands-on presentation for plant health monitoring and practices. Free for members, $5 nonmembers. April 8, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Lowcountry Investment Club: Investment Club studies and invests $30 per month in stocks that are voted on by the club. Non-club members may attend as observers. April 21, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Veterans Group: For veterans to socialize. April 23, 2-3:30 p.m. Nonmembers must accompany a member.

Alzheimer's vs. Forgetfulness: Dr. John Kleckley of Lowcountry Geriatrics speaks on the differences between Alzheimer's and forgetfulness. April 22, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Free for members, $5 for nonmembers.
Living Well: Workshop on diabetes, arthritis, asthma, heart, back or other ongoing health conditions. Learn to take charge. Six-week workshop is free. A $15 donation is appreciated to cover the cost of the book you keep.
