Coby Cowgill threw a four-hit complete game and VMI pounded out 18 hits en route to a 12-1 win over The Citadel in college baseball on a soggy Wednesday evening at Riley Park.

Cowgill (3-0) dominated, allowing one unearned run in nine innings while striking out nine and walking two for the Keydets (16-1).

The Keydets got two RBIs apiece from four different players, using a four-run fourth inning and scoring five in the sixth to put away the Bulldogs (11-5).

The Bulldogs, who wore green hats, managed their only run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Altman for a short-lived 1-0 lead.

Freshman Austin Pritcher made his first collegiate start for the Bulldogs and cruised through the first three innings before running into trouble in a steady rain in the fourth. He allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched.

Justin Mackert went 2 for 3 with a double for the Bulldogs.

The Citadel travels to Elon, starting Friday, in its first conference road series of the season.
