Harbison staying with Tigers
CLEMSON -- Dabo Swinney can relax again.
A day after Florida contacted Clemson's coach about speaking to defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison, Harbison told Swinney on Thursday he is staying at Clemson.
Reports surfaced Thursday that Florida had hired Arizona Cardinals defensive backs coach Teryl Austin to be the Gators' new defensive coordinator.
It's another close call for the Tigers as Harbison was named one of Rivals.com's top 25 recruiters.
It's the fourth time this offseason a program has had documented interest in one of Swinney's assistants, and the third inquiry by an SEC program.
In addition to Tennessee's courtship of Kevin Steele and Florida's interest in Harbison, Tennessee was also interested in defensive line coach Dan Brooks, and USC-bound Lane Kiffin contacted Clemson receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Jeff Scott.
