Food trivia: Ted's Butcherblock at 334 East Bay St. hosts its second installment of Foodie Trivia with a $50 ticket to the Charleston Brewvival for the winner, 7:30-9 p.m. today. Free, excluding beverages.

Grand opening: Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier celebrates its expansion to 363 1/2 King St. with a Grand Opening from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Refreshments, raffles, giveaways and discounted chocolate will be offered. The store features hand-painted creations, truffles, French pastry, and Christophe's chocolate shoe, which was featured on Martha Stewart's "Dreamers Into Doers." Call 297-8674. Sustainable seafood: Middleton Place Plantation will be the site of a Sustainable Seafood event 6-9 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Pavilion reception space. Six sustainable seafood stations will be set up in the room, each with a paired organic and sustainable wine available for tastings. (Cash bar also available.) Slow Food Dinner: Cypress will host a dinner honoring Carlo Petrini, founder of Slow Food International and Terra Madre, on Feb. 23. Petrini, who is making only three stops in the U.S., is promoting his new book, "Terra Madre" and raising funds for the Terra Madre organization. Executive chef Craig Deihl will serve a five-course meal marking the reintroduction of the rare Guinea Hog into kitchens for the first time in more than 100 years. New market: Caroline's Market and Catering has opened at 55 Windermere Blvd., behind Earth Fare. Caroline Bevon, owner of Catering by Caroline, offers a retail outlet for food-to-go. Book signing: Event designer Tara Guerard will sign copies of her new book, "Weddings by Tara Guerard," at 1 p.m. March 6 at the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, Marion Square. Through 12 dream weddings, Guerard shares tools and tricks of the trade from more than a decade in the industry.

TEA workshops: Learn about the art of tea in a series of workshops at Fuschia Tea Emporium, 113 Church St. Workshops will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 16 and March 23. Barbecue school: The Carolina Pit Masters is teaming with the Omar Shriners to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children by bringing a professional barbecue cooking school to the area. The two-day event puts participants in a simulated barbecue competition to learn the low and slow methods of smoking meat. As part of a team, students actively participate in planning, selecting, preparing, cooking and presenting ribs, pork shoulder and the whole hog.
