WALTERBORO – A female suspect was arrested today in connection with a shooting that occurred late Sunday night - the latest in a run of shooting incidents dating to early November.
Colleton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at the Apollo Lounge parking lot, 1109 Rivers St., where several gunshots were fired. A vehicle was found in the parking lot with what appeared to be several bullet holes. A gunshot victim was later located and transported to the Colleton Regional Hospital.
The victim, Kaylon Aiken, was later released with a gunshot wound to his arm.
Through witnesses to the incident, Angel Sherie Farmer, 21, of Wild Wood Drive, was arrested on Madison Street, near the scene of the shooting. She is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, and was being held in the Colleton County Detention Center.
The motive for the shooting, and whether the incident is gang related, is unknown at this time, said Sheriff George Malone.
Aiken was found about a block away from where three people were killed and six others were injured in a drive-by shooting last month. Among those killed in that incident was a 20-month-old child.
