Parker lifts Falcons over Bucs

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Charleston Southern dropped its second game of the season on Saturday night, falling to Air Force, 68-58.

The Buccaneers (3-2) return home to face Toccoa Falls on Monday night before opening Big South Conference play on Thursday at Liberty.

Junior guard Jamarco Warren scored 18 points and dished out six assists, while junior forward Kelvin Martin had 14 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Grant Parker scored 25 points and pulled down 11 boards to pace Air Force. Tom Fow added 13 points off the bench for the Falcons, who improved to 3-1 on the season.

Charleston Southern shot only 33.3 percent from the field, making only nine of 31 shots from beyond the arc. The Bucs also struggled from the line, hitting only nine of 20 attempts.

Air Force converted 21 of 34 attempts from the line, including six of seven shots in the final minute.

The teams battled fairly even throughout the first half, with Air Force holding a 28-26 halftime advantage. Air Force opened the second half with a 15-6 run to take a 43-32 lead with 14:17 to play.

Avery Merriex hit a 3-pointer with 11:37 left to open the lead up to 48-34.
