Byrnes receiver Jones commits to USC
Byrnes High School wide receiver Nick Jones (5-10, 165 pounds) committed to South Carolina on Sunday, according to Rebels athletic director Bobby Bentley. Jones is regarded as one of the state's fastest players and will help fill the Gamecocks' need for a slot receiver in the class.
He also held offers from Auburn, Michigan, Northern Illinois and Georgia Southern. He's the 19th commitment for the 2010 class.
Jones missed the first month of the season with a torn knee ligament. As a junior he had 64 catches for 814 yards and 6 touchdowns.

USC is strongly involved with one of the country's top offensive tackle prospects. Morgan Moses (6-7, 320) of Fork Union Prep, Va., signed with Virginia last year, and with Al Groh's future with the Cavaliers in doubt, Moses has decided to check out other options.
Also helping the USC cause is the fact Moses is close friends with Gamecocks commitment who also is at Fork Union. Moses, a native of Richmond, Va., has set an official visit with USC for Dec. 4.
Clemson also might take a shot at Moses. The Tigers did recruit him out of high school. Clemson recruiter Andre Powell does plan to look at three of his other players -- RB Terrance West (6-1,190), LB David Mackall (6-3, 245) and LB Lorne Goree (6-1, 210).
Clemson is waiting on word from OL Max Garcia of Norcross, Ga. He took his official visit to Clemson for the Florida State game and is deciding between the Tigers, Vanderbilt and Maryland. Garcia said it's even among the three and he will make a decision before the end of the year.
Manning DB John Fulton will announce his college choice Dec. 17 during the Under Armour All America game. Fulton, who took an official visit to USC for the Florida game, has been favoring the Gamecocks over Alabama and Florida.
Beaufort LB Justin Parker made an unofficial visit to Clemson on Saturday. He made the trip with his coach, former Clemson tight end Mark Clifford, and two junior teammates. Parker met with some of the coaches before the game and talked with head coach Dabo Swinney. Parker, who made his official visit to USC for the Florida weekend, plans to be back at USC for the Clemson game. He plans to take an official visit to Clemson before making his decision. He was favoring USC going into the weekend. Clifford said.
Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore made another unofficial visit to USC for the Florida game and plans to be back for the Clemson game. Because of the multiple unofficial visits to USC and his familiarity with the program and the school, Lattimore is sticking with his plans not to take an official visit with the Gamecocks. He has taken officials to Auburn and Penn State and will visit Oregon, North Carolina and Georgia in January.
Byrnes DL Brandon Willis, a Tennessee commitment, took an official visit to UCLA over the weekend. He and teammates DE Corey Miller, also a Tennessee commitment, and WR Jazz King made official visits to North Carolina two weekends ago. King also plans to take official visits to Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
DB PJ Clyburn of Statesville, N.C., has an official visit with USC set for this weekend. He also plans to set officials with Illinois, North Carolina and East Carolina according to his coach. USC has not yet offered Clyburn, whom they like as a safety. He made an unofficial visit for the Vanderbilt game.
Also set for an official visit to USC this weekend is DB Chris Davis of Birmingham, Ala. He also is set to visit Mississippi State on Jan. 15. Davis has offers from USC, UAB and Arkansas State.
Clemson commitment ATH of Adairsville, Ga., has dropped Tennessee from consideration and is now just looking at Auburn along with Clemson. He has an official visit set with Auburn for Dec. 11.
Clemson remains in touch with DL Ainsley Miller of Concord, N.C., but has not yet offered. West Virginia has been showing increased interest and Miller is expecting an offer from the Mountaineers. He will take an official visit to New Mexico on Dec. 4 and will visit West Virginia the following weekend.
USC is showing interest in TE Will Tye (6-3, 230) of Salisbury, Conn., and he said he would take an official visit if the Gamecocks offer him. He has offers from Penn State, Florida State, Temple, Wyoming and N.C. State. This season Tye had 40 catches for 650 yards and 8 TDs.
DE Darious Cummings of Titusville, Fla., planned to make an unofficial visit to Florida State on Saturday. He plans to be at Florida this Saturday and has an official visit with the Gators set for Dec. 11. He'll also take an official to Florida State. Cummings has been committed to the Seminoles. He's taken an official visit to USC. He did not make it to Columbia for the Florida game.
Byrnes WR Torian Richardson has an official visit to Mississippi State scheduled for this weekend. He planned to be at the Georgia game Saturday. Richardson holds offers from East Carolina, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Louisville, Tulane, Kansas State, Syracuse and Michigan State.
