Library Programs
The Charleston County Public Library offers the following free programs for children, teens and adults throughout the month of November.
Charleston & The Islands

Saul Alexander Gallery Art Exhibit: Through Nov. 30. Jerry Comstock will exhibit his multimedia paintings in the Saul Alexander Gallery during the month of November.
Rosenwald Schools: Reflection and Revival. Through Nov. 30. The National Trust for Historic Preservation presents the story and plight of the Rosenwald Schools, a series of 5,300 structures built in the early 20th century to provide decent public schools for African-Americans across the segregated South.
After School Grab Bag (ages 6-11): Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. Create and decorate your own paper mache bowls, pencil holders or whatever you design yourself.
Off the Grid: Nov. 7, 2-5 p.m. Join group for some live music from artists including Chuck Taylor, Sabrina and Peter Ledbetter.
Eyes on the Prize Documentary Series: "Bridge to Freedom" (1965): Nov. 9 at 1:30 p.m. John B. Bonds, history department, The Citadel, will lead the discussion following each film.
Tech Talk: Blogs and Blogging. Nov. 9, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn how to start your own free Web log and explore the wide variety of blogs. This presentation is demonstration only. Call 805-6885 for more information.
Storyteller Hawk Hurst (all ages): Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy celebrating Native American Heritage Month as Hurst presents stories, songs and musical selections that capture the wonder and wisdom of Native American culture.
After School Grab Bag (ages 6-11): Nov. 12 at 3:30 p.m. Screen the movie "Coraline." Rated PG; 100 minutes.
National Gaming Day at the library (all ages): Nov. 14. Board games will be played throughout the day in the children's room.
Met Opera at the Library: "Aida." Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. Violeta Urmana stars in the title role of the enslaved Ethiopian princess, with Dolora Zajick as her rival for the affections of Johan Botha's Radames. Run time: 3.5 hours.
Eyes on the Prize Documentary Series: The Time Has Come (1964-1966): Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. John B. Bonds, history department, The Citadel, will lead the discussion following each film.
Contemporary Fiction Book Discussion: Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski.
Small Business Counseling with SCORE (adults): Nov. 18, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free, confidential counseling for your start-up idea or existing business from the Charleston Coastal chapter of SCORE.
Resume and Cover Letter Editing: Nov. 18, 12:30-2 p.m. Bring a completed resume and cover letter for review.
Great Books Discussion: Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. This month's selections are "A Passion in the Desert" by Honore de Balzac and "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe.

Met Opera at the Library: "Turandot." Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. Franco Zeffirelli's production stars Maria Guleghina in the title role of the ruthless princess and Marcello Giordani as Calaf. Run time: 3.2 hours.
Independent Lens Community Cinema: Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. "Between the Folds" by Vanessa Gould chronicles the stories of 10 artists and intrepid theoretical scientists who have abandoned careers to forge unconventional lives as modern-day paper-folders. Photography Exhibit: Through Nov. 30. The Kiawah Island Photography Club will showcase its photographs of people, nature, landscapes, travel and more.
Tea Display: Through Nov. 30. The Charleston Tea Plantation will display teapots and varieties of tea.
Club Anime! (ages 12-19): Nov. 7, 3-5:15 p.m. The final DN live action movie, "L: Change the World." Note that the meeting is 45 minutes longer than normal.
