Man charged with trespassing

A woman reported to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office that a man came to her home and began banging on the door and house while yelling that she ran a prostitution ring.

She said that she asked him to leave, but the man only continued yelling, a report states. She also claimed that she has seen the person standing in the shadows of her garage at night acting strangely.

When the deputy arrived at the Ladson home, the man was standing in the road yelling loudly that all of the neighbors were operating a prostitution ring and that he would put an end to it, the report says.

Then the man reportedly began yelling at the woman who called the Sheriff's Office. He yelled that she was the prostitution ring's leader, according to the report.

The deputy reportedly asked the man to remain calm and stop yelling. The man's sister also talked to the deputy and reportedly said that her brother had been acting strangely at the home and had accused her of conspiring against him.

She said she was afraid of the man, according to the report. The deputy arrested the man on a charge of trespassing.

Men sleeping in field arrested

A man sleeping in a car parked in a field Sept. 5 was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, according to a report.

North Charleston police approached the car after noticing it while on a routine patrol. The officer tapped on the window to awaken the driver, who appeared to be sleeping, the report said.

The man woke up and rolled down the window and the officer smelled a heavy odor of an alcoholic-like beverage, the police report states. The key was in the ignition and the radio was on. The man told police that he had been in the field for 45 minutes and that he had been drinking in Summerville, but that he stopped to take a rest on the way home, the report says.

The man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after taking field sobriety tests, the report says.

Man claims he's Michael Bolton

A man stopped by North Charleston police after riding his bicycle on the sidewalk without a light after 8 p.m. Sept. 5 claimed he was Michael Bolton, according to a report.

Police told the man that he was supposed to ride on the roadside and that he needed a light. Police then asked him for his name and the man answered 'Michael Bolton,' the report said.

The officer said that the man needed to give his real name. The man then reportedly told the officer his real name and said that he thought he might have a warrant.

There was no warrant for his arrest, but the officer arrested the man on a charge of providing false information and took him to the Charleston County Detention Center.

Police referee name-calling

Two North Charleston men got into a fight after one reportedly called the other names.

One of the men reportedly told North Charleston police that his neighbor threatened him with a machete and slapped him across the face, a police report states. The other man denied using the machete and said that the neighbor had been calling him and his friends names, a report states.

Both men said they had been drinking alcohol and the report said the men appeared intoxicated. An officer told both men to stay away from each other.

Man reports identity theft

A man reported to North Charleston police that he was the victim of identity theft because someone used his name to get a driver's license while he was in prison.

The man reportedly told police that he'd been incarcerated for more than 20 years. When he was released from prison, he told police, he went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to apply for identification and learned that his driver's license was suspended because of numerous traffic violations and unpaid fines.

The man told police that he was in prison during the time of the violations, according to the report.

There were no charges at the time of the report.

Vandals leave church message

A church pastor reported an odd case of vandalism recently.

The man reportedly told North Charleston police that he left the church about 11 a.m. Sept. 7, and when he returned five hours later, he saw that someone had spray painted 'The future is unwritten' on the side of the building in purple paint.

There were no charges at the time of report.
