After more than 20 years in business, North Charleston-based Coastal Glass Distributors accepted its final order Tuesday.
The company, a glass fabricator with about 150 local employees, sent a letter to customers saying the decision came "after efforts to obtain ongoing financing proved unavailable."
Coastal Glass sold its automotive glass component in 2001 and began focusing on residential and commercial glass. President Jack Hoey declined to say much more than the letter's contents but alluded to the real estate market tumble.
"We're a housing product supplier," he said. "Obviously the economy played a role."
Coastal Glass closed a Jacksonville, Fla., office a few months ago. The local office makes its final delivery Monday.
