One killed in fiery car crash near Summerville

SUMMERVILLE - A person died early this morning after a fiery crash on U.S. 17A.

The vehicle was southbound on U.S. 17A when it ran off the road, struck a tree and caught fire about 4:10 a.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. Lance Cpl. Bob Beres said they don't know what type of vehicle it was because of the fire damage.

The wreck is under investigation.
