Young man shot at downtown store

A young man was shot early Monday at a downtown convenience store, apparently because one of the men he was with spoke to the shooter's girlfriend, a report said.

About 2 a.m., the victim and two other men went inside the Circle K at Meeting and Calhoun streets, and one of them spoke to a woman, the report said. It said that, once outside, the woman's boyfriend blocked the victim's car with his own vehicle, yelled and then opened fire.

One man was shot and was taken to Medical University Hospital. His condition was unknown late Monday. Police found bullet holes in one vehicle and six shell casings.

The suspect's vehicle was described as an older, red Ford Crown Victoria.
