Hospital releases oil tanker driver
The truck driver who was hit by a car driven by state Rep. Joseph Jefferson is out of the hospital.
Eugene Driggers of Moncks Corner, 66, was hit while standing near his disabled oil tanker on U.S. Highway 52 on Monday morning.
Although initial reports indicated Driggers was seriously injured, he was released from the Medical University Hospital the same day, according to hospital records.
Officials said Jefferson, D-Pineville, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. His car was seriously damaged. He could not be reached Tuesday.
Police said no charges will be considered until the Moncks Corner Police Department and the S.C. Highway Patrol finish a joint investigation, which could take several weeks.
