Three teens were rescued Sunday from a sand bar off Sullivan's Island when they swam out too far and got stranded.

Two Sullivan's Island Fire and Rescue Department watercraft brought them to safety about 6 p.m. near Station 17, according to witnesses. Officials could not be reached for more details.

It was the latest in a string of recent rescues and tragedies.

Tara Lynn McAllister, 39, of Goose Creek was found dead Friday morning in the surf near the Morris Island lighthouse off Folly Beach. Officials said her car was parked on Sullivan's Island and that she appeared to have drowned.

Three swimmers were pulled from the water Friday afternoon about 100 yards offshore near Station 18 1/2. They were taken to a local hospital for observation.

A young woman from New York City disappeared in the ocean near Breach Inlet Thursday afternoon after trying to wade out to a sand bar as the tide was going out. Anna Finkelstein of New York City, a woman in her early 20s, was still missing Sunday evening.
