People urged to bring dogs to workplace

Pet Helpers Rescue & Adoption Center is encouraging folks across the Lowcountry to bring their dogs to work Friday.

In celebration of the 11th annual national Take Your Dog to Work Day, which will be observed Friday, Pet Helpers is suggesting that local companies let employees pay a small fee to bring their pooches to the office and then donate that money to Pet Helpers.

A 2006 American Pet Products Association survey indicated that one in five companies allows pets in the workplace. According to the survey, millions of employees felt that pets in the workplace led to a more creative environment, decreased absenteeism, improved productivity and helped co-workers get along better.
