Woman dies after car hits tree on I-95
WALTERBORO — A 19-year-old Lexington woman died Friday morning after her car hit a tree in the median of Interstate 95 in Colleton County.
Sarah Shea Trautwein died of severe trauma, said Deputy County Coroner Richard Carter.
Trautwein was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt north on I-95 between mile markers 51 and 52 when the car ran off the right side of the highway about 7:55 a.m., Lance Cpl. Bob Beres said. Trautwein overcorrected, causing the car to cross the northbound lanes and strike a tree in the median, he said.
Beres said the wreck is under investigation.
