Citadel holds 'Meet the Bulldogs'

The Citadel baseball team will hold its annual "Meet the Bulldogs" scrimmage at noon Sunday at Riley Park.

An autograph session will precede the final preseason scrimmage before the Bulldogs open their season Feb. 20 against visiting Indiana State. Complimentary food will be provided by the RiverDogs and Costco and admission is free.

--Charleston Southern baseball coach Stuart Lake announced that the CSU Baseball Benefit dinner, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed.

Coach Lake and featured guest Ray Tanner have not yet decided on a new time to hold the event that was slated to benefit the Ray Tanner Foundation, as well as the CSU baseball program.

College wrestling

The Citadel wrestling team will take on two Southern Conference foes Sunday as the Bulldogs meet Appalachian State and Davidson.

The Bulldogs will wrestle Appalachian State at 1 p.m. in Boone, N.C., then hit the road to take on host Davidson at 7 p.m.

Bulldog wrestlers Tyler Sim and Keith Koziel have earned back-to-back SoCon wrestler of the week honors.

College softball

Charleston Southern went 1-2 in its first three games at the Camel Stampede Tournament in Buies, N.C.

The Buccaneers fell 3-2 in the opener against Ohio (3-3).

CSU bounced back in the second game as Sondra Vetter improved to 2-0 on the year after allowing just one run and three hits in a 9-1 victory over Bucknell (0-1) in five innings.

In game three, CSU (4-2) fell 3-1 to St. Joseph's (1-1).

College track and field

Dionne Gibson set a Charleston Southern record in the 60-meter dash at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson.

She ran in 7.55 seconds in qualifying before winning the event at 7.59.

The track meet continues today.
