Dogs' Sim gets SoCon wrestler of week honor

The Citadel's Tyler Sim, who competes at 125 pounds, has been named Southern Conference wrestler of the week.

Sim, a junior, went 4-0 overall, including a 3-0 record and individual title in the All-Academy Championships at VMI; he won two matches by decision and one by fall. In the final, he decisioned No. 1 seed Prescott Garner of Navy, 7-5. The Bulldogs placed third out of eight teams.

College soccer

Clemson senior Julie Bolt, a former West Ashley High School standout, was named to the All-ACC academic women's soccer team for the third time in her four-year career.

Bolt led Clemson in scoring in 2008 with nine goals and 19 total points. The forward garnered second-team All-ACC honors in 2006 and '07. Bolt was one of three Tigers to earn the All-ACC academic honor.

Pro soccer

Former College of Charleston star Wes Knight agreed to a two-year contract with the USL First Division Vancouver Whitecaps. Knight, who finished his C of C career in the fall, joins the reigning champions of USL1. The Whitecaps also won the '06 league title. The two-time All-SoCon and All-South region pick was a four-year Cougars starter as a defender.
