WALTERBORO — Three men were shot in two incidents just outside of town Friday afternoon, and when it was over, one of them was dead.

The shootings might be related, Colleton County Sheriff George Malone said.

About 12:40 p.m., two men were shot at a home on Jared Street. Rudy Dee Marshall, 22, died of multiple gunshot wounds, Malone said. He said Dontrai T. Kelly, 19, was shot in the leg and was taken to Colleton Medical Center.

While deputies were investigating that incident, there was another shooting a couple of miles away on McMillan Street. Quashon Middleton, 17, was shot in the leg multiple times, the sheriff said.

Malone expressed frustration with the investigation. "People are not talking when these things happen. I just don't understand that kind of thinking," he said. "People are going to have to start being more cooperative. It's ridiculous what's going on."

To provide information about the homicide, call the Sheriff's Office at (843) 549-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
