The South Carolina Charleston Chapter of the Sports Car Club of America will be conducting its free, annual autocross school. The classroom session is 7-9 p.m. The class is open to all car enthusiasts and will teach the basics of how to autocross - a sport where one car at a time travels a closed course made up with traffic cones in a parking lot. Drivers compete against the clock and are classed with other drivers with equal cars and experience. The basic requirement for the competing cars is the ability to pass a basic safety inspection and not be a vehicle like a minivan or tall truck that might be prone to a roll-over. Drivers need a current driver's license and minors under 18 years old will need a parental waiver. The basics of car handling, braking and driver car control skills will be taught. You do not need to be an SCCA member. The classroom session will be at the Rick Hendrick Imports Training Room next to Rick Hendrick BMW, 1518 Savannah Highway in Charleston.
