The Citadel will unveil a permanent exhibition honoring the late author Jim Rigney at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Daniel Library on campus.

Rigney, who wrote the "Wheel of Time" series under the pen name Robert Jordan, was a Citadel graduate. His books have sold millions of copies and have been published in 18 languages.

Rigney died Sept. 16 at age 58 after a fight with the rare blood disease amyloidosis.

Tuesday's ceremony will include a panel discussion of science fiction and fantasy and Rigney's role as one of the most popular contemporary writers of the genre. Panelists will include Michael Livingston, an assistant professor of English at The Citadel; David Drake, a science-fiction and fantasy author best known for his "Hammer's Slammers" series of military science fiction; and Brandon Sanderson, a fantasy author selected to complete the final book in the "Wheel of Time" series.

The event will conclude with a reception. For more information, call 953-7691.
