Twisters take first

The Charleston Twisters gymnastics team took first place in the Level 5 competition at the Beach Break Invitational held Feb. 16-17.

Olivia Otter, Carissa Rhodes, Laney LeShack and Moria Ivey combined to bring home the Level 5 trophy with individual victories in separate age categories. Otter won the all-around among 11-year-olds with first-place performances on beam, vault and the uneven parallel bars.

Rhodes, among 10-year-olds, won on beam and finished second all-around. In the 9-year-old category, LeShack swept all four events the way to the all-around title. Ivey, in the 7-8 age division, won on vault and was second in the all-around scoring.

Also at the meet, Victoria Ivey won the Level 9 floor exercises among 11-13 year-olds. Alex Enzinna won the Level 4 all-around among 11-year-olds and took first on beam.

Reilly Keen won on bars and was second all-around among 9-year-olds. In the 6-year-old age group, Jenna Patterson was third all-around.

Pirates hold tryouts

The Berkeley Pirates travel baseball club will hold tryouts through the month of April.

Tryouts will be at 9 a.m. Saturdays through the month of April on the Alcoa Fields in Goose Creek for the 10-, 12-, 14- and 16-and-under teams.

Goose C. basketball

Registration for the Goose Creek spring basketball season is now under way at the Community Center and the Casey Center through Monday.

Leagues are available for ages 5 through adult. Players must live in Goose Creek or the Goose Creek Recreation District. The only nonresident players accepted are those living in Devon Forest, Oakatee or the unincorporated areas of Crowfield.
