Tools to Sleuth
Use this database to find when and where fires took place, whether homes were rentals or owned, even the weather at the time of the fires. And help us make it even better. A database is only as good as what's entered into it, so if you see errors or have additional details about a fire, send us a note.
About the database: This information was compiled from police and fire reports requested under the state Freedom of Information Act, data from the Charleston County Assessor's Office, the National Weather Service and other sources.
Total Fire Count
This map produced by the Charleston Fire Department identifies all structure fires on the Charleston peninsula from Jan. 1, 2007 through Sept. 30, 2011. Of these 246 fires, 40 around the Crosstown Expressway were suspicious.
