At The Post and Courier he has covered city and county governments, the Port of Charleston, residential real estate, investigative projects and general assignments. Slade has been a newspaper reporter since 1992, winning numerous state and national awards. He was also editor of a business magazine covering the international gemstone trade. Slade earned a master's degree from University of Illinois/Springfield and a bachelor's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
