David Slade writes about issues raised by rapid population growth and development across the greater Charleston area. He also writes a Sunday personal finance column aimed at helping average folks save money. At The Post and Courier he has covered city and county governments, the Port of Charleston, residential real estate, investigative projects and general assignments. Slade has been a newspaper reporter since 1992, winning numerous state and national awards. He was also editor of a business magazine covering the international gemstone trade. Slade earned a master's degree from University of Illinois/Springfield and a bachelor's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
