Dave Munday started with The Evening Post as a copy editor (now called production editors) in 1981. He switched to reporting when the Post and Courier merged in 1991. He covered automotive when it was a news beat, then real estate, religion, Dorchester County and Berkeley County before switching to the weekly Your Lowcountry. He also continues to work the Sunday crime and features beat. He’s a native of West Virginia who went to Grace College in Indiana planning to go to seminary and changed his mind after he graduated. He painted houses, worked in a steel mill and a chemical warehouse, picked up trash for the highway department and spent a couple years in campus ministry before settling on a journalism career. He worked for a weekly paper in Iowa and a book publisher in New Jersey before moving to Charleston. He has two grown children and is on his third, and hopefully final, marriage.
