April 28, 2013 Gene Reese Sr. was a father of 5 young kids when a drunk driver hit him on the way home from work one night. The impact left him in a coma for 2 months and paralyzed. Yet, he recovered, learned to drive with hand pedals, played wheelchair basketball, and volunteered for years gathering and fixing wheelchairs and other devices for others who are disabled. Now he is a deacon in his church and an all around super guy. He is vying for one of three handicap-equipped vans in a national story contest about people with mobility problems.
