October 29, 2012 One of this island's great new living spaces doesn't have air conditioning. In fact, it barely has any walls at all. This special living and dining area is the opposite of a formal historic house. In fact, architect Reggie Gibson desgined it to take pressure off such a house, the early 19th century home known as the Vanderhorst Mansion. That mansion was restored and rehabbed in the early 1990s for use as a family compound. The Creek House, built recently in the woods just next to the mansion, is where the real living can take place. Both properties will be viewable on Nov. 3 during a tour of homes fundraiser for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League.
