CLEMSON – Freshman running back Mike Bellamy has been suspended for the bowl game and bowl practice leading up to the Jan. 4 Orange Bowl, coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday.

Bellamy, a highly regarded five-star prospect entering Clemson, was sent home from Charlotte prior to the ACC title game, suspended indefinitely by Swinney.

Swinney said Bellamy has a chance to be reinstated in January if "he does the right things." Bellamy is still on campus and is expected to complete fall semester courses next week.

Bellamy has blazing speed on the field but has frustrated the coaching staff with his immaturity off the field and his inability to grasp the playbook.
