CLEMSON – Receiver Joe Craig will be suspended for at least one game this season but the redshirt freshman has been reinstated to the Clemson football team.
Craig was suspended following a fight with a female track athlete in the spring. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney did not reveal the length of Craig’s suspension Tuesday but said he has been cleared through the university’s legal process.
“He’s a young guy who got caught in a bad situation and responded the wrong way,” Swinney said. “He’s learning there are consequences for your actions. I think he’ll learn from it greatly. I think he already has. He’s done all the things he’s needed to do from the university standpoint.”
Swinney indicated it will not take Craig long to get up to speed. Craig will begin practicing with the team Thursday. Craig is one of the fastest players on the roster and could also play on special teams.
