USC announces postgame Fan Fest

COLUMBIA -- South Carolina will provide a postgame entertainment experience for its April 9 spring game, the school announced Tuesday.

A first ever Fan Fest will take place a half-hour after the annual Garnet and Black Game, set to begin at 1 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium.

"We really want to create an event that is welcoming to all Gamecock fans in conjunction with the spring game," Gamecock Club director Patrick McFarland said. "Interest in Gamecock football is at an all-time high and we want to connect with as many fans as possible to continue the momentum."

Fans will be allowed to access the field through the "2001" entrance, from which the players emerge before games. There will be photo opportunities with various trophies, including the football team's SEC East trophy and the baseball team's NCAA championship trophy.

Live music will be provided by Tokyo Joe.

A 32-team cornhole tournament will also take place. The entry fee is $20 a team.

Wait continues

There was some rumbling over the weekend, but quarterback Stephen Garcia was not made available Tuesday to reporters. He will speak Thursday.

Garcia, suspended for the first week of spring practice for violating team rules during bowl week, has been down this road before. He had a much-anticipated address of the media following his suspension from school in 2008.

Lawing returns

Defensive line coach Brad Lawing returned to practice after a few days away tending to a mild health matter.

"Oh, coach Lawing, he's doing fine," defensive tackle Travian Robertson said.
