CLEMSON -- Perhaps the person offering the most hope to Clemson Nation regarding Kyle Parker's quarterback status is analyst Peter Gammons.

Gammons reported Thursday night the Rockies might allow Kyle Parker and their fourth-round pick, N.C. State quarterback Russell Wilson, to play football this fall after they sign.

It was news to Parker.

When asked about the report Friday, Parker called it a "rumor" and said no such topic arose when he spoke with Rockies general manger Dan O'Dowd earlier this week.

Gammons also reported during the draft Monday that signability is a major issue and the Parker camp's negotiations with the Rockies could result in a "tug of war."

When asked who will start Game 2, Clemson coach Jack Leggett said he "had not even thought about Game 2."

Clemson No. 1 starter Casey Harman will start today against Alabama. Harman threw his first complete game, a victory, in the winners bracket game against Auburn today. Scott Weismann started the first game and Will Lamb started Monday's elimination game.

As of Friday afternoon, Harman said he had not looked at an Alabama scouting report.

"You just have to pitch to your strengths," Harman said.

Alabama will start ace Jimmy Nelson today against Harman.

Nelson has thrown two complete games in his last three outings. Alabama pitching coach Kyle Bunn said Nelson has a "heavy" fastball, a big body for durability and has excellent command of his breaking ball, which he can throw for strikes in the zone or as a swing-and-miss pitch out of the zone.

Nelson is 10th in the SEC in earned run average (3.97), and is seventh in strikeouts (94).
