A seven-car collision on the North Bridge, which connects North Charleston to West Ashley, tied up traffic for hours Friday.
At 3:45 p.m., multiple rescuers were on the scene, including Charleston County EMS and the North Charleston Fire Department.
At least two people were trapped, said North Charleston police public information officer Spencer Pryor. Several people were injured and transported to local hospitals. Information about their conditions was not available.
The bridge and parts of Cosgrove Avenue near Interstate 26 were closed to traffic until shortly before 7 p.m., Pryor said.
The collision was being investigated by the North Charleston Police Department.
